The Economic Developement Potential
of Stem Cell Research in Texas

A study authored by Bernard L. Weinstein and Terry L. Clower, professors of applied economics at the University of North Texas, concluded "... an industry that has the potential to support more than 230,000 jobs in Texas, generate $88 billion in economic activity and provide more than $1.3 billion in state and local tax revenue would be at risk should the Legislature impose restrictions on stem cell research above and beyond any federal restriction."
